Handpiece and Angle in Dental Unit

Today, oral and dental problems and diseases are widespread. Dentistry, along with the restoration of teeth and their roots, requires medical instruments that make dental restoration possible and achievable. In the past, the only solution to tooth pain was extraction. However, advancements in science and technology have led dentists to avoid extraction whenever possible and instead focus on restoring the tooth.

For removing decay, finishing, and filling a tooth, the affected area of the tooth is first removed or “hollowed out” by the dentist, and then it is filled with special materials to prevent further damage and spread of decay to adjacent areas of the tooth. To perform this procedure, rotary instruments are needed.

Rotary instruments used in dental units come in two types:

  1. Turbines
These are high-speed rotary instruments (high speed).

  2. Motors
In addition to turbines, we need rotary instruments with low speeds that are adjustable. These instruments are called motors, and they are used in handpieces and angles. There are two types of motors: air motors and micromotors.
